Quick and Easy Valentine's Day Treats

2/09/2015 06:00:00 PM

Hey everyone!

Today I'll be showing you some quick and easy Valentine's Day treats to share with your friends and loved ones (or yourself!) that will surely bring a smile to someone's face!

1- Chocolate Covered Strawberries & Marshmallows:

This one is the easiest out of the 3 and can be done with children too! You could cut the strawberries and marshmallows into shapes too! You could use pretzels, cake or cookies too and dip them.

You'll need:
- Baking chocolate (milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or all three)
- Strawberries
- Marshmallows
- knife or shape cutter (optional)

1) Temper the chocolate by boiling some water on the stove and put a plastic or glass bowl on top and melting the chocolate. Or you could do what we did and place the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and melt it for 30 second intervals. If you find that the chocolate has seized up, add milk to it until it's back to a liquid state.

2) Wash and cut off the stems of the strawberries and cut them into shapes with the marshmallows (optional).

3) Dip them in the chocolate, drizzle different types of chocolate on them and decorate them with sprinkles too! You could also sprinkle sea salt on them, coconut shreds, nuts and anything else, be as creative as you'd like with it!

2- Heart Shaped Rice Krispies Treats:

I have to say this is my favorite out of the 3 since I haven't had rice krispies in so long and it was actually my first time making some!

You'll need:
- A small box of Rice Krispies (1 cup)
- 2 cups of mini marshmallows
- Half a stick of butter
- Heart shape cookie cutter
- Chocolate/sprinkles/frosting for decoration (optional)

1) Add two cups of mini marshmallows and half a stick of butter to a microwave safe bowl to the microwave for 30 second intervals until the marshmallows have melted (stir in between to make sure the butter is incorporated well).

2) Once the marshmallows are melted, add in the rice krispies and mix well (this is a bit tricky, but just keep mixing!)

3) If you have more than one cookie cutter you'd like to use, I recommend adding the rice krispies mix into the cookie cutters and leave them to set for about 15 minutes.

4) If you only have one cookie cutter, you could try to put them in the cutter and take them out immediately and see if they hold their shape. If they don't, place the rice krispies mix on a cookie sheet and cut out the shapes from there after it has set for 5 minutes.

5) Decorate the treats with whatever you'd like!

3- Fruit Roll-Ups Fortune Cookies:

Honestly, this is one of the most creative and easy ideas I've seen! Sadly, I couldn't find Fruit Roll-Ups anywhere so I wasn't able to make it, but here's a pictorial of it:

Hope you guys enjoyed this post! What treats are your favorite?
