Makeup 101 - The Basics (2)

Hey everyone!
So, yesterday I told you guys all about learning your face in my Makeup 101 - The Basics (1), and told I'll be telling you everything you need to know about basic makeup application and contouring!
Eyebrow Filling:
This isn't a step everyone has to take but for people who struggle with sparse or very thin eyebrows, you could use 1 or all 3 of these items:
1- Brow Pencil:using a brow pencil can help you shape your brows while still looking natural. It's best for people who have fuller brows but want to shape them better.
2- Brow Powder (or Eyeshadow): using a powder is best if you have sparse areas but you already have full eyebrows. It will look the most natural while still filling in your brows.
3- Brow Pomade:this is best for people who have very sparse eyebrows and need to create a shape for their brows. However, it's very easy to go overboard with this so make sure you practice, practice, practice!
Eye Makeup:
There are so many different eyeshadow and eye lining techniques, but here are the basic terms and shadow placements:
1- Outer Crease: here is where you'd apply the darkest shade.
2- Crease: this shade would be lighter than the outer crease but darker than the lid. It will transition and help blend the colors together.
3- Lid: here you would apply the lighter shade.
4- Inner Corner (Tear duct): This is where you'd apply the lightest shade to help brighten your eyes.
5- Brow Bone: here you can apply the lightest shade you applied in the inner corner or another light shade to highlight beneath your brows.
6- Lower Lashline: this is where you can apply any shade you'd like! You can either smoke it out or apply a light shade.
7- Water line: this isn't on the diagram but its just the line where you apply your eyeliner.

Concealing:
Choosing the right concealer and concealer application can be a bit tedious with all the options and colors! You can check out my color wheel post on more information about the different color correcting shades, but these are some basic tips on choosing a concealer for different uses:1- Brightening concealer: this would be used to brighten the areas of your face such as your under eye area, the bridge of your nose, the sides of the mouth, the middle of the forehead and the chin. The shade you choose should have a more yellow or peachy undertone (yellow for fair skin and peachy for tan to dark skin) to correct the dark areas.
2- Spot/Acne Concealer: this is a concealer you'd use to help conceal spots such as acne and you would not want to brighten this area. Choose a shade that is more of your skin tone and, depending on how red or dark the spot is, might want to opt for a corrective concealer also.
Contouring:
I won't go in detail as this is a basics post (comment below if you want an in-depth post!) but here are the basics as a lot of people have a misconception that everyone can contour the same way when each person's face shape is different:

Blush:
Choosing a blush is fairly easy but their are a few things to take into consideration:
1- Cream Blush: if you're going for a more natural look or you have extremely dry skin, you should consider opting for a cream blush.
2- Powder Blush: this is the more commonly used option.You could opt for a blush with shimmer for a more dewy finish.
Highlighting:
Same goes with highlighter as blush (with cream or powder) but you should know that you should highlight your cheek bones, bridge of your nose, and the cupid's bow.

Trust me, practice makes perfect! You'll be a pro in no time ;)! I'm still getting the hang of it but I've definitely improved since I've started!
